Navigating to unicorn status
A startup founded in Perth has attracted former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull as an investor as it targets a planned unicorn valuation within three years.
Xavier Orr is an experienced robotics engineer specialising in algorithms, artificial intelligence and mechatronic systems. In 2011, he co-founded Advanced Navigation to develop AI-based inertial navigation systems. Prior to that, Mr Orr spent over 4 years at Cyber Technology including over 3 years as director of research & development, and was founder and chief executive of Western Suburbs Computer Technicians for over 6 years.

Former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has joined the board of a Perth-created tech business with clients including NASA and Tesla, Advanced Navigation.
A Perth-linked tech company that has worked with Boeing and Google, and counts Malcolm Turnbull as a backer, has secured $108 million from investors including KKR.
Perth-founded Advanced Navigation and The University of Western Australia will receive a share of $40 million funding ahead of NASA’s planned return of astronauts to the moon in 2025.
Founded in Perth, manufacturing in Australia, this robotics and AI startup is heading towards unicorn status.
