Vanessa Hudson has been with Qantas Group since 1994 where she held a variety of senior commercial, customer and finance roles across the group in Australia and overseas with responsibilities for sales channels, revenue management and network planning, transformation in catering, airports and network. She was executive manager of sales and distribution, senior vice president for Qantas across the Americas and New Zealand, executive manager of commercial planning, executive manager for product and service, and chief customer officer. In October 2019, Ms Hudson became the group's chief financial officer. Her portfolio included group finance, group procurement, treasury, investor relations, mergers and acquisitions, internal audit and Qantas superannuation.
Ms Hudson became chief executive of Qantas Group in September 2023, becoming the first female CEO and the 13th chief executive of the national carrier's 103-year history. She succeeded long-serving chief executive Alan Joyce AC who retired from the airline after 15 years at the helm.
Ms Hudson has a Bachelor of Business, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
