Dr Tom Hatton PSM took up a five-year term as chair of Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) from November 2015 to November 2020. He has sat on the EPA board since November 2014 and is also on the board of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy as well as an adjunct professor at the University of Western Australia, through which he is a member of the UWA Oceans Institute’s advisory board. Previously, he chaired WA Marine Parks and Reserves Authority between 2012 and 2015.
Dr Hatton was also a member of the CSIRO group executive of energy and has extensive experience in the areas of energy, marine, water management and salinity. He was director of the CSIRO wealth from oceans flagship from 2009 to 2012 and of the CSIRO’s Water for a Healthy Country Flagship from 2006 to 2009.
Dr Hatton has a Bachelor of Science (summa cum laude) and Master of Science in Natural Resources from Humboldt State University, and a doctorate from the College of Natural Resources at Utah State University.
