Harvey names shadow ministry
Newly minted opposition leader Liza Harvey has revealed her shadow cabinet, with former leader Mike Nahan appointed as shadow minister for planning and Asian engagement.
Tjorn Sibma was appointed WA's Shadow Minister for Ports; Government Accountability & Procurement; Public Sector Integrity & Performance; and Veteran's Issues under Liza Harvey's Shadow Cabinet in 2019. He swapped the Ports portfolio for Planning in the cabinet reshuffle in February 2020. In July 2020, Mr Sibma took on additional portfolios as Shadow Minister for Environment and Forestry.
He has been the Liberal Party Member of the Legislative Council for North Metropolitan Region since 2017.
In 2021, Mr Sibma became the Liberal leader in the Western Australia Legislative Council. Following the 2021 WA state elections, Mr Sibma became the Shadow Minister for the environment, defence industry, citizenship and multicultural affairs. As part of the changes to the National-Liberal Alliance Shadow Ministry in March 2022, he took on an additional portfolio as Shadow Minister for Metronet. In February 2023, Mr Sibma became the Shadow Minister for justice, defence industry, Metronet, citizenship & multicultural affairs.
Mr Sibma was a staffer for the Barnett Government and prior to entering politics, he was the external affairs manager of the University of WA, general manager of Yanchep Beach Joint Venture, manager of external affairs for the Roy Hill Project, and assistant director and analyst for the Australian Department of Defence.
