Tim Day has been with BHP since May 2008, initially as mining manager and general manager before becoming acting asset president for Western Australia Iron Ore in November 2019, vice president of Maintenance and Engineering Centre of Excellence in October 2020, vice president of Resource Centre of Excellence and Legacy Assets in February 2023, and asset president of WA iron ore in January 2024.

Prior to BHP, Mr Day was a director of Jimblebar and mine manager of Anglo Coal.
