Stuart Nixon is a technology entrepreneur who has played a lead role in founding three prominent companies in the geospatial imaging sector. He concentrates on strategic projects and deep research for the next generation of imagery solutions.
He was the founder of ERMapper, which was sold to Leica Geosystems in 2007. That was followed by the establishment of NearMap, where he served for a period as chief executive of global operations. His third company was Spookfish, which was bought in 2018 for $122 million.
Mr Nixon was a founding member of Australia's Spatial Information Steering Group, a member of various spatial information organisations, and a keynote speaker at geospatial conferences worldwide.
He was the recipient of the Grahame Sands award for innovation in applied geophysics, and is an Honorary Fellow of the Spatial Sciences Institute of Australia.
