Stephen Ridgeway was a senior partner in King & Wood Mallesons competition and regulatory team in Melbourne. He was originally a senior legal advisor to the ACCC for several years. After joining private practice in 1998, Mr Ridgeway acted in merger and joint venture approvals, ACCC investigations and litigation, and infrastructure access disputes. He has extensive expertise in large-scale litigation, and represented BHP in the landmark Pilbara infrastructure access proceedings in the Competition Tribunal, Federal Court and High Court. During 2011/2012 Mr Ridgeway was chair of the Competition & Consumer Committee of the Law Council of Australia and played a leading role in the committee’s consultations with the ACCC and Federal Government about policy and enforcement matters.
