Shonelle Duthie graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelor of Laws in 2007, and then spent two years working as the associate to Justice Beech in the Supreme Court of Western Australia. Since her admission in 2009, Ms Duthie has gained experience across a wide range of areas. She initially practised in criminal law, and then in a boutique Perth litigation firm. Ms Duthie then worked in Vancouver at a leading Canadian insurance law firm. Upon her return to Australia in April 2015, she joined MDS Legal and has settled into a role in civil litigation which involves acting in a variety of matters in the State courts, especially in professional negligence claims for Law Mutual (WA), the insurance arm of the Law Society of Western Australia. As well as having a professional association with the Law Society through her role at MDS, Ms Duthie is an active member of the Society and serves on its Education Committee. As part of her litigation practice, she has a strong interest in mediation which is an increasingly common method of dispute resolution. That interest has led her to become an accredited mediator, which enables her to conduct mediations as a mediator.
