Roger Featherston is a full-time commissioner with the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) and has a wealth of experience from his previous roles as a lawyer in the private and public sectors. He was a partner at Mallesons Stephen Jaques, leading the firm’s competition law team and advising a broad spectrum of commercial and governmental clients on competition law and enforcement issues, consumer protection, informal merger clearances, access and pricing issues, and telecommunications matters. He also acted for the former Trade Practices Commission early in his career and, for the two years before his appointment, acted as Special Counsel at the ACCC advising on a range of major competition and consumer protection matters. Mr Featherston is a life member and former chair of the Business Law Section of the Law Council of Australia, and a member and former chair of its Competition and Consumer Law Committee. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of Economics from the Australian National University.
