Robert Willes spent 24 years with BP where he built up extensive international experience in oil, gas and energy and was a member of the company’s “fast track” development programme. As an entrepreneurial senior commercial leader, strategic thinker and tactical deal maker, Mr Willes was responsible for numerous deals such as divestments, farm-ins, asset swaps, new acreage bids, unitisations, gas and LNG sales, creating billions of dollars of value for BP. These deals frequently broke new ground and/or required an innovative approach that delivered results in excess of what the business thought achievable. Mr Willes held senior executive and director roles covering exploration & production, mergers & acquisitions, business development, LNG marketing, joint venture management, gas & power, and corporate head office. International assignments included UK, Australia, Indonesia, Norway & Belgium. Mr Willes is a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN) and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD). His board experience comprises seven directorships (including two ASX-listed companies) and two alternate directorships of Australian and international companies, and directorship of a not-for-profit organisation.
