Robert Kennedy has worked in public sector agencies for over 20 years, in both the State and Commonwealth Governments. Most of this time has been in central agencies in policy and administration roles.
Mr Kennedy began employment with the Western Australian Government as a research officer in 1995. He joined the Department of the Premier and Cabinet in 2003 and was appointed director of state administration in 2008 when he joined the corporate executive. Mr Kennedy was appointed the department's executive director in 2016 and was responsible for the corporate governance functions and strategic projects. He also took on the position of Official Secretary to the Governor in an acting capacity for a few months in late 2019.
In March 2020, Mr Kennedy becomes the new Western Australian Electoral Commissioner.
