Robert Cooper is a mining engineer with over 30 years of industry experience, having held leadership roles across a diverse range of metalliferous commodities in Australia and overseas. He has a broad foundation of operating and technical experience in underground and open pit operations.
Mr Cooper held leadership positions with BHP Billiton as general manager of Leinster Nickel Operations within Nickel West, was project manager of a BHP Billiton-wide organisation design project, and asset president of Ekati Diamonds in Canada. He was also general manager of operations in Botswana and general manager of development in the Brisbane office of Discovery Metals. Mr Cooper was the chief executive of CopperChem and Exco Resources, both 100%-owned subsidiaries of the Washington H Soul Pattinson Group of companies. He became chief executive and managing director of New Century Resources in September 2022.
He holds both a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) and a Master of Engineering Science (Underground Mine Planning) from The University of Queensland.
