Richard Longbottom held several roles in the Australian dance sector including as general manager at Tasdance, community and education manager at Dancenorth, and has served on a number of Australia Council for the Arts peer assessment panels.
Since January 2015, Mr Longbottom has been working as strategy and investment consultant to Nga Rangatahi Toa Creative Arts Initiative, supporting young people in alternative education to successfully transition into employment, tertiary training, or back into mainstream schooling.
A graduate of the New Zealand School of Dance in 1999, he went on to dance with the Royal New Zealand Ballet. In 2007, he worked for Queensland Ballet presenting an in school’s performance of Romeo and Juliet throughout northern Queensland. Mr Longbottom worked as repetiteur for Vespers at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow in 2009.
In addition to dance, he graduated from the University of Canterbury with Honours in Sociology in 2007, and was awarded a Masters Scholarship and University Prize for Academic Achievement.
