Peter Quinlan SC has been practising as a barrister since 2001. He was appointed a senior counsel of the Supreme Court of Western Australia in December 2010, and became Western Australia’s 14th Chief Justice in August 2018.
Justice Quinlan joined the Crown Solicitor’s Office in 1993 as professional assistant to the solicitor general, before working as associate to the Hon Justice Parker AO at the Supreme Court of Western Australia in 1995. He returned to the Crown Solicitor’s Office in 1996, working in the areas of constitutional and administrative law, and was later appointed assistant crown counsel.
Justice Quinlan is considered an eminent jurist within Western Australia and extremely well regarded by the legal profession and judiciary, both within and outside of Western Australia.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours from The University of Western Australia.
