Peter Laurance

Peter Laurance AO established the first of the Pivot Group of Companies in Perth, Western Australia in 1972. The company grew into a public-listed corporation in 1984 with offices, property assets and resource projects in most states of Australia. It has been wholly-owned by the Laurance family since it privatised the group in 1990.

Mr Laurance was a major shareholder and executive chair of Sea World and Warner Bros Movie World. He led a team of 2000 staff, achieved profitable results and many national awards as the best tourist attractions in Australia.

In 1990, Mr Laurance was appointed by the State Government as chair of the Queensland Tourist & Travel Corporation where he directed a team of 300 people in 17 offices worldwide to promote Queensland as Australia’s premier tourist destination.

In 1992, Mr Laurance was awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia for services to tourism, and his lifelong commitment to helping disadvantaged young people.
