The Right Honourable Lord (Peter) Goldsmith was appointed non-executive director of Westfield Holdings in August 2008. He holds a degree in law from Cambridge University and a Master of Laws from University College London. Lord Goldsmith has been admitted to practice in New South Wales. He is a partner in the international law firm Debevoise & Plimpton LLP. In 1987, Lord Goldsmith was appointed Queens’ Counsel and a Crown Court Recorder and he has been a Deputy High Court Judge since 1994. For six years until June 2007, Lord Goldsmith served as the United Kingdom’s Attorney General. He was created a Life Peer in 1999 and a Privy Counsellor in 2002 and he remains a member of the House of Lords. Lord Goldsmith’s other past positions include chair of the Bar of England and Wales, chair of the Financial Reporting Review Panel, and founder of the Bar Pro Bono Unit.
