Pilbara towns to grow from mining roots
Two inland Pilbara towns are probing what needs to be done to diversify beyond their mining company town beginnings
Peter Foster has been a public servant for almost 20 years. He also has extensive governance, leadership, public speaking and board experience.
Mr Foster had worked for Centrelink and Medicare in NSW, and at the Department of Transport and Department of Communities in Western Australia. He was a councillor at the Shire of Ashburton for nine and a half years prior to his appointment to the Western Australian Legislative Council as a Labor member for Mining and Pastoral Region at the 2021 state election.
Based in Tom Price, Mr Foster is an active member of the community where he is chair of Tom Price Primary School and Tom Price Youth Support Association. He is also a strong local advocate for regional communities, jobs, health and education; a proud Union member; and a member of the lgbtqi+ community.
Mr Foster has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Newcastle (NSW) majoring in Humanities.
