Top legal eagles take flight
The new financial year has triggered a series of changes at the top of Perth’s big law firms with senior partners leaving MinterEllison, Clayton Utz and Freehills.
Peter Doherty is an experienced advocate and mediator.
From 1987 to 2006, he was a partner of Minter Ellison (formerly Northmore Hale Davy & Leake) prior to joining Francis Burt Chambers. While practising at the bar, Mr Doherty had extensive practice in many areas of law including administrative, contractual, planning and development, local government, property, competition and consumer protection, building and construction, and coronial enquiries.
He is a Nationally Accredited Mediator (UWA), the former legal member of the Local Government Standards Panel, the Section Editor for the Australian Journal of Competition and Consumer Law, and former chair of the Business Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.
Since October 2016, Mr Doherty became the general counsel for the City of Rockingham as well as its director of legal services. In his private capacity, Mr Doherty is available for consultations and mediation services on Fridays.
