Flooding dented Whitehaven’s coal output
Whitehaven Coal says production was down in the September quarter, but it still generated a record $1.6 billion in cash as prices skyrocketed.
Paul Flynn has experience in the mining, infrastructure, construction and energy sectors.
He spent 20 years as a professional advisor at Ernst & Young and was chief executive & managing director of the Tinkler Group where he was instrumental in the merger of Whitehaven Coal with Aston Resources. Mr Flynn joined the board of Whitehaven in May 2012 and assumed the role of managing director and chief executive in March 2013.
Prior to joining the Tinkler Group, he was the managing partner of Ernst & Young's Sydney office and a member of its Oceania executive team. As a partner for over eight years, Mr Flynn managed many of EY's largest mining and energy clients across Australia, Asia, South and North America. He has also fulfilled various leadership roles with large corporations on secondment including as the chief financial officer of a top 50 listed company.
