Paul Dowd has been in mining for 50 years, primarily in the private sector, but also serving in the public sector as head of the Victorian Mines and Petroleum Departments.
Mr Dowd held senior executive positions with Normandy and was managing director of Newmont Australia and vice president of Australia and New Zealand Operations for Newmont Mining Corporation.
He has various advisory positions with councils and groups, including the SA Minerals and Petroleum Expert Group (SAMPEG), and the University of Queensland - Sustainable Minerals Institute Board. Mr Dowd is chair of the CSIRO Minerals Resources Sector Advisory Council, and was inaugural chair of RESA from September 2006 to May 2015 before becoming non-executive director from May 2015.
