Spectrum Metals has paid $200,000 to buy the historical First Hit gold mine, located 50km west of Menzies in the Goldfields region of WA. The mine was last worked in 2002 and the company has defined numerous walk-up drill targets for delineating more high grade mineralisation. Spectrum will raise $600,000 to underwrite exploration of its WA gold assets, by issuing shares to sophisticated investors at 0.4c per share.

Recent exploration drilling has snagged a 4 metre wide zone grading at 11.1 grams per tonne gold from 195m downhole, including a metre grading 41g/t gold at the Magenta prospect, 1.5km north of Penny North.

Spectrum Metals’ share price has jumped 40% from Friday’s close on news of a take-over bid from gold titan, Ramelius Resources which has the blessing of the Spectrum board. The cash and scrip offer represent a 70% premium to Spectrum’s 30-day volume weighted average share price. Ramelius says there are strong synergies between the two companies and the board of Spectrum has endorsed those views.

Spectrum Metals is not sitting idly by while shareholders consider a takeover bid by ASX-listed Ramelius Resources Ltd. In fact, Spectrum is gearing up for another bunch of drill holes around the various deposits that make up its Penny West gold project. It is targeting resource additions to add to an already healthy maiden estimate of 799kt at 13.8g/t for 355,500 ounces of contained gold.
