Patrick Gorman is the federal member for Perth, representing the Australian Labor Party. He was elected to the House of Representatives at by-election 2018, replacing Tim Hammond who resigned mid-term for family reasons.
A former Kevin Rudd staffer, Mr Gorman was appointed Labor Party state secretary in 2015 replacing Simon Mead. Mr Gorman was backed by the party's powerful left faction union United Voice where he previously held the position of director of public affairs.
In the January 2021 shadow cabinet reshuffle, Mr Gorman was appointed the Shadow Assistant Minister for Western Australia. Following the Labor Party's victory at the 2022 federal election, Mr Gorman retained his portfolio and became the Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister under the Albanese government. In May 2023, he took on additional responsibilities as Assistant Minister for the Public Service.
