Olivia Humphrey worked in media rights management for the BBC and Village Roadshow for ten years before setting up Kanopy in 2007. Kanopy is an award-winning video streaming service for universities. Moving with her husband and a 10-month old baby to San Francisco in 2013, Kanopy has become a leading player in this space, with over 7 million students from 2000 universities worldwide accessing its service as at 2014. Ms Humphrey moved back to Perth in 2019 and became Kanopy's executive chair where she will focus on its international expansion. She stepped down from the board in September 2020.
In August 2020 Ms Humphrey was appointed an Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Curtin University, mentoring emerging Western Australian entrepreneurs and promoting the extensive entrepreneurship activities and opportunities available at the university. She is also the co-founder and director of Storyd Group, which supports female storytellers by investing in internationally targeted feature films from Australian female creatives.
