Busselton farmers Neil and Ian Delroy capitalised on the growing love for avocados when they sold out their Jasper Farms operation in 2017. Then Australia's biggest grower of Hass avocados, the Ontario Teachers' Pension Fund acquired the 650 hectare operation for $123 million.
Coming from a broadacre background, they ended up in horticultural and viticultural consulting. Neil was the farmer while Ian had banking experience. The money has been put to good use through a family office called Agati Capital which has made its home in Cottesloe, run by former EY M&A director Stacey Holmnas.
