Murray Jones has extensive experience in Aboriginal management and engagement in a diverse range of industries. His experience includes Aboriginal engagement, working alongside the Indigenous community in managerial and development roles, scheduling, contracts and procurement, business risk and strategic development.
Mr Jones also has extensive knowledge and understanding of state and federal legislations relating to indigenous affairs.
He was the inaugural chair of the South West Land and Sea Council.
Mr Jones was also chair of Black Deaths in Custody Watch Committee and represented the organisation in Geneva, Switzerland at the United Nations meeting (Inhumane Treatment and Torture in Prisons). He was a keynote speaker at the United Nations World Racism conference in Durban, South Africa; president of the Aboriginal Legal Service of Western Australia; and worked in remote areas throughout WA, developing complex projects with Indigenous youth and unemployed adult to prepare them with life skills, work readiness and employment. Mr Jones was directly involved with the Noongar native title claim win in 2002 covering the entire South West of Western Australia. He was awarded Noongar of the Year for this contribution to the Noongar community, and awarded Aboriginal Organisation of the Year nationally at a summit held in Alice Springs.
Mr Jones studied and completed an Associate degree in the discipline of Aboriginal Development and Community Management at Curtin University.
