PLANNING policy changes due to be released this month will give shopping centre owners in Perth the impetus to invest in centre expansions, an area which has been constrained for over ten years, according to the Shopping Centre Council of Australia.
A MAJOR barrier to expansion in Perth's retail sector has been lifted with the release of the state government's draft 'activity centres policy', according to the peak industry council.
With hundreds of millions of dollars being spent on the development of new shopping centres in Western Australia, the design of the centre can make or break it.
Rooftop water tanks, wind turbines, solar panels and even waterless woks in food courts are some of the initiatives shopping centre owners are implementing to reduce their environmental footprint.
