Christmas power outages under review
An independent six-week review has been launched into power outages that left approximately 34,000 households without power over Christmas last year.

Michelle Shepherd has over 20 years of experience in managing regulation and government policy within the private and public sectors including at AGL Energy (based in Melbourne), the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, and the Competition Commission (UK).
Ms Shepherd has been the commissioner of the Australian Energy Market Commission since June 2018. Prior to that, she was the general manager of regulatory and government affairs at Alinta Energy, and led the team responsible for developing and implementing Alinta Energy's national government and regulatory strategy across its gas and electricity businesses.
Ms Shepherd became chair of Synergy in May 2023, and was a non-executive director of the WA gas market operator Retail Energy Market Company (REMCo) for over 4.5 years.
She holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Applied Economics, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
