Federal, private funds for net works
Public policy shortcomings have continued to pay dividends for private internet network providers.
Michelle Rowland is an Australian politician and a member of the Australian Labor Party, representing the Division of Greenway since 2010.
Ms Rowland has been a member of the shadow ministry since 2013. She has held the portfolios of Shadow Assistant Minister for Communications (2013–2015), Shadow Minister for Citizenship and Multiculturalism (2013–2016), Shadow Minister for Small Business (2015–2016), and Shadow Minister for Communications (2016–2019). Following the Labor Party's victory at the 2022 federal election, Ms Rowland became the Minister for Communications under the Albanese government.
Prior to politics, Ms Rowland was a senior telecommunications lawyer with law firm Gilbert + Tobin in Sydney, director of the Western Sydney Area Health Service from 2000 to 2004, and a local councillor and deputy mayor of Blacktown.
