Perth bid for $75.3m Solar Cities initiative moves closer
Perth's bid to participate in a $75.3 million national Solar Cities initiative designed to make it a more sustainable city has moved a step closer.
Michelle Roberts is the Labor Party Member of the Western Australia Legislative Assembly for Midland. She was the Minister for Police & Road Safety from 2017 until her appointment as Speaker of the WA Legislative Assembly in March 2021, becoming the first female to be elected to the role.
Prior to Labor's state election win in March 2017, Ms Roberts was Shadow Minister for Police; Road Safety; Crime Prevention; Culture and the Arts; Manager of Opposition Business. In November 2015, Mrs Roberts became the longest-serving female parliamentarian in Western Australia's history.
She was a high school teacher, civil servant and local government councillor before entering politics.
