Michael Povey

Michael Povey is a mining engineer with over 34 years' worldwide experience in the resources sector. This experience has encompassed a wide range of commodities and included senior management positions in surface and underground mining operations and the explosives industry. His early career included operations in Africa, North America and Australia and employment with Rio Tinto, Anglo American, the former ICI Explosive and various Australian listed mining companies. He was responsible for general and mine management, mine production, project evaluation, mine feasibilities studies and commercial contract negotiations.He also worked within the "junior" resource sector and held a number of corporate directorships including as technical director and managing director where he led exploration programmes, JV negotiations and equity raisings for several exploration companies listed on the Australian and London Stock Exchanges, Mr Povey completed a Masters degree in Astronomy, a life-long interest, and continues to work as a company director and consultant on project evaluation and development on resources projects in Australia, Indonesia, Greenland, Europe and Africa. He is a chartered engineer and Member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, and holds a number of Certificates of Competency including a West Australian Mine Managers Certificate.
