Michael Mann
Michael Mann AM is managing director (Asia-Pacific) of Laureate International Universities. Mr Mann also holds directorships in Australia-Vietnam Medical Foundation (Sydney University) and Think Education and Chancellor of Torrens University Australia. In 2012, Mr Mann was appointed Founding Chancellor of Torrens University Australia, Australia’s first new comprehensive university in 20 years. In 2014, after being a Director of THINK Education in Australia which comprises of eight colleges, he was appointed chair of THINK Education. Mr Mann was the founding president of RMIT International University Vietnam and received a doctorate in Education from RMIT University. Mr Mann had achieved an enormous amount in his time in Vietnam, both as an ambassador for Australia for four years, and then founding President of RMIT Vietnam for several years. Apart from his major contribution to education in Vietnam, Mr Mann has also helped build strong and positive relations between Vietnam and Australia, and especially Melbourne, Victoria where RMIT has its base. Mr Mann is a recipient of Vietnam’s Friendship, Agriculture, Red Cross, Peace medals and Laos’ Order of Labor. He is also a Knight of the Order of Malta and the Order’s Ambassador to Thailand and Cambodia. In 2007, Mr Mann was awarded the City’s City of Merit by the Mayor of Ho Chi Minh City and in 2008 was appointed president of the Golden Dragon Association which represents the top 1% of
foreign invested enterprises in Vietnam. In January 2009, he was made a Member of the Order of Australia for his services to education and humanitarian work in Asia. In 2013, he was awarded the Officer Grand Cross of the Order of Malta.
