Dr Michael Fischer is a company director and board advisor with almost 40 years of international oil and gas upstream experience in Asia Pacific, Africa, and Europe. He has held senior executive and director roles in large and small-cap energy companies.
Dr Fischer was the chief operating officer of Ophir Energy where he played a central role in developing the company from a small private explorer to a world-class E&P company, achieving one of the largest IPO of an E&P company when it listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2011. He was also the executive vice president of natural resources at Bangchak Corporation, and was managing director and chief executive of Nido Petroleum which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bangchak. Dr Fischer had also worked at BP, Woodside Energy, and OMV E&P.
Dr Fischer holds a PhD from the University of Wales, a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Geological Sciences from the University of Leeds, and is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
