Merome (Mem) Beard has extensive experience as a small business owner in the hospitality sector. She is the owner of a pub in Carnarvon and a former international rower.
In June 2022, Ms Beard was endorsed as the Nationals WA member for pre-selection to fill the North West Central seat in the Western Australia Legislative Assembly. The National-Liberal Alliance was formed in February 2023 and Ms Beard became the opposition whip in the Legislative Assembly, and the Shadow Minister for local government, tourism, commerce and women’s interests.
In October 2023, Ms Beard resigned from the WA Nationals to join the WA Liberal Party.
