Melissa Price was elected the Federal Member for Durack in 2013, as a member of the Liberal Party. Ms Price was the Assistant Minister for the Environment from 2017 to 2018 in the Turnbull Ministry, and Minister of the Environment from 2018 to 2019 in the Morrison Ministry before being appointed Minister for Defence Industry in May 2019, and Minister for Science and Technology in October 2021. Ms Price relinquished her ministerial portfolios in May 2022 following the defeat of the Liberal Party at the federal election.
Ms Price was vice president of legal and business development at Crosslands Resources for four years. Prior to that, she worked for the CBH Group as group general counsel and then as business development manager.
She is a qualified lawyer and a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
