Lobbyists change amid shifting political landscape
THE world of lobbying was turned upside down with the ousting of Alan Carpenter's Labor state government in September last year.
Megan Anwyl has been a professional lobbyist for 15 years and spent 20 years as a strategic and government relations professional. She was a Labor member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly, representing Kalgoorlie from 1996 to 2001.
Ms Anwyl ran Hawker Britton’s Perth office from March 2017 to April 2020, and prior to that was president of the Labor Business Roundtable from August 2015 until her retirement in March 2017.
Ms Anwyl has represented a diverse range of ASX 200 companies with a particular focus on regional development, minerals and energy projects. She was chair of Magnetite Network which she formed in 2009 to represent the interests of magnetite producers; inaugural chair of the North West Iron Ore Alliance which represented junior ASX-listed mining companies including Atlas Iron; and aided the formation of the DomGas Alliance in 2006.
Ms Anwyl holds degrees in Law and Arts from the University of Melbourne, and practised law for 11 years.
