Max Wang is a Registered Professional Engineer in Alberta, Canada. He holds a Bachelor in Railway Engineering from Southwest Jiaotong University in China and a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Calgary. From 1990 to 1997, Mr Wang was an independent consultant on various engineering projects across Canada. In 1998, he joined Bantrel Corp with progressive responsibilities from lead civil/structural engineer to project engineering manager and civil/structural/architectural department manager and chief engineer overseeing mining, in-situ and downstream oil sands and other projects. In 2006, Mr Wang joined Petro-Canada as engineering manager for Oil Sands and with the merger of Petro-Canada with Suncor in 2009, he took on the role of director of engineering, major projects. In 2012, Marubeni and Winsway purchased Alberta-based, Grande Cache Coal, and Mr Wang led the business as president and chief executive from January 2013. Mr Wang is a technical committee member of the Canadian National Standards on Concrete Materials, Construction, Testing and Design, and a founding steering committee member of the annual Sino-Canadian Oil and Gas Symposium.
