Megara builds on Pilbara success
Megara Developments managing director Matthew Pickford says his company was simply in the right place at the right time to take advantage of the Pilbara’s building boom.
Matthew Pickford is the Managing Director Megara Developments. Matt has substantial finance and strategy experience with a strong network of Pilbara contacts. His work history includes roles within BHP Billiton as an engineer in Port Hedland and later within Finance and Strategy in Perth. After more than 5 years within a strategy role and working on mergers & acquisitions for a major global bank in the UK and then he returned to Perth. Matt took a keen interest in property development while working as a senior management consultant, culminating in bringing the Directors together and founding Megara Developments in 2007.

Property player Megara Developments will build eight apartments for the Town of Port Hedland in exchange for the right to sell house-and-land packages at South Hedland’s Catamore Court estate.
Change is under way in the Pilbara mining town of Newman, with BHP Billiton’s long-held dominance of the housing market moderating in the face of new residential developments and a growing rental sector.
The end of the resources boom has resulted in a bleak prognosis for Pilbara property, but not all players think the region is on its last legs.
