Martin Monro has over 30 years of experience in the Australian and international construction sectors, in financial management, safety leadership and successful expansion into new markets. He was chief executive and managing director of Watpac from August 2012 until his retirement in June 2019, and is a non-executive director. Mr Monro was the national vice president for the Australian Industry Group, a member of the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds Unincorporated Joint Venture Board, and chair of the Moits Advisory Board. He is also a specialist workplace relations advisor to the board of the Australian Constructors Association, a body dedicated to making the construction industry safer, more efficient, more competitive and better able to contribute to the development of Australia. He is also a director of the construction industry suicide prevention charity, Mates in Construction, a voluntary position he has held since 2017. Mr Monro has formal qualifications in Psychology and Human Resources Management, is a graduate of the Accelerated Development Program at the London Business School, and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
