He is the managing director of Global Masters Fund and Athelney Trust; chair of EC Pohl & Co and ECP Asset Management; chair and president of Bond University Rugby Club; and a director of Bond University, Huysamer International Holdings; and trustee of Currumbin Wildlife Hospital Foundation.

In 2019, Dr Pohl was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the finance sector, and to the community.
