Magenta Marshall is the Western Australian Labor Party's candidate in the 2023 Rockingham by-election, triggered by the resignation of then WA Premier Mark McGowan. She became the first woman elected as a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly for Rockingham when she won nearly 50 per cent of the primary vote in the by-election. She is also the third Member for Rockingham in the electorate’s near-50-year history.
Ms Marshall had previously spent six years working in, or alongside, the McGowan Labor Government as an electorate officer and organiser.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Asian Studies & Politics and International Relations from Murdoch University.
