Lynne Craigie OAM was the first woman president of WA Local Government Association (WALGA). Ms Craigie has been a state councillor since April 2008, a councillor at the Shire of East Pilbara since 2003 and president of the Shire of East Pilbara from 2005 until her retirement in May 2021.

She is chair of the Pilbara Regional Council, Newman Women’s Shelter, Newman Visitors Centre and Newman Senior High School Board, member of the East Pilbara Independence Support Group. Ms Craigie is a board member of the Australian Local Government Association, the Pilbara Development Commission, Horizon Power and a past board member of Australia’s North West Tourism Group.

In 2019, Ms Craigie was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for services to the East Pilbara region.
