Big data, big potential, big challenges
How should WA prepare for a productivity revolution driven by data science and machine learning?
Dr Liz Dallimore was a research & development specialist and director at KPMG with more than 15 years of experience in research, innovation and technology across the UK and Australia, with a key focus on the biotechnology industry.
A biomedical scientist by training, Dr Dallimore commenced her PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Oxford and completed it at The University of WA. She completed an MBA (Technology) in 2013 and was awarded an Alumni Prize for top student in capstone courses by the Australian Graduate School of Management.
She worked at the Perron Institute from 2000-2001 in the Stroke Research group. Dr Dallimore’s previous roles encompassed innovation and R&D at Ernst & Young in Melbourne, and PwC in Melbourne and Perth.
Dr Dallimore was a judge and mentor for the RMIT University (Melbourne) Business Plan Competition which focuses on bringing innovative ideas to market. She is a WA Committee Member for AusBiotech Perth and a panelist in the Life Sciences Division for the Australian branch of the venture-catalyst Springboard Enterprises.

The state government has awarded $4.3 million to nine health and medical projects, including developing new therapy for liver cancer and delaying Alzheimer’s disease progression.
Perth biotech company Argenica Therapeutics’ drug, which is designed to reduce brain tissue death following a stroke, will be administrated at two local hospitals in a nationwide trial.
Shares in Argenica Therapeutics were down by 13 per cent on Friday morning, despite the biotechnology technology announcing it would raise $12 million in order to complete its second phase trial of its ARG 007 drug in ischaemic stroke patients.
