Lindsay Tanner is a special adviser for financial advisory firm Lazard, Australia, where he is directly involved in advisory processes regarding corporate mergers, acquisitions and capital raisings. Mr Tanner is also chair of Essendon Football Club, non-executive director for Virgin Australia International Holdings, member of First Principles Review of Department of Defence, member of the Australian Advisory Board for Canadian Steamships, Vice Chancellor's Fellow for Victoria University, and chair for Mitchell Institute for Health and Education Research.
Mr Tanner has also held parliamentary positions since 1996, including the Minister for Finance and Deregulation from 2007 until 2010. Prior to that, his roles included Federal Opposition Policy Coordinator, Shadow Minister for Finance, Shadow Minister for Community Relationships, Shadow Minister for Communications, Shadow Minister for Consumer Affairs and Shadow Minister for Transport. Mr Tanner served on a number of parliamentary committees between 1993 and 2007 including House Economics, Finance and Public Administration Committee, House Communications Committee, Joint Committee on Public Accounts and Audit, House Transport Committee, Joint Committee on Corporations and Securities, and House Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee.
Mr Tanner has also held honorary positions including as chair Governance Advisory Panel.
