Lawrence Kochard is the chief investment officer of Makena Capital Management.

Mr Kochard started his career in financial analysis and planning, corporate finance and capital markets for EI DuPont de Nemours and Company, Fannie Mae and The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. He was chief executive and chief investment officer of the University of Virginia Investment Management Company, chief investment officer of Georgetown University, and managing director of Equity and Hedge Fund Investments of the Virginia Retirement System.

Mr Kochard was also an assistant professor of finance at the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia from 1999 to 2001.
