Kristy Heal was appointed head of finance at BHP's Western Australian Iron Ore in 2021.
Prior to her current role, Ms Heal had held numerous positions across a range of different BHP assets including head of finance at Olympic Dam in South Australia, financial controller at BHP’s copper operations in Santiago Chile, as well as chief of staff to former BHP chief executive Marius Kloppers.
She has experience in the finance sector having also worked for the Bank of Western Australia as a senior analyst.
Ms Heal is an advocate for inclusion and diversity and is the sponsor of BHP’s Western Australian Jasper Chapter, the company’s LGBTQI+ support network.
She has also served as chair of the Foodbank WA Finance Risk and Audit Committee, a not-for-profit food relief organisation.
Ms Heal has a Master of Applied Finance (Double Major – Corporate Finance and Investment) Kaplan University (MBA), and a Bachelor of Commerce (Double Major – Accounting & Finance) from Curtin University.
