Katie Winterbourne has over 25 years of experience in providing strategic commercial legal advice within the resources, energy and infrastructure sectors with a particular focus on regulatory authorisations and tenure for major projects onshore and offshore within Western Australia.
Ms Winterbourne advises on project planning, development, operations & closure, and negotiates the associated commercial & stakeholder documents. She also assists clients in obtaining and maintaining project tenure and regulatory approvals including working with State Agreements, as well as complex transactions to buy and sell resources, energy and infrastructure assets, drafting transaction documents and undertaking target due diligence.
Ms Winterbourne founded Lantegy Legal in February 2016 and became a partner of Piper Alderman's national projects, infrastructure and construction team in Perth in November 2023. Prior to that, she was a partner at a global law firm and an integral part of the resources and energy practice in Perth, an in-house lawyer at BHP where she supported the nickel mining operations and business development, and had assisted the WA Government with one of its reviews into WA water legislation.
She has been acknowledged in The Best Lawyers in Australia across multiple practice areas including Planning and Environment Law, Water Law, Mining Law and Natural Resources Law.
