Kate Glancy was admitted to practice in 1994 after a year as an articled clerk with the WA State Solicitor’s Office. She spent 25 years at the State Solicitor's Offiice, rising to the position of deputy state solicitor in July 2016. Ms Glancy appeared as counsel in all jurisdictions, and frequently juniored for the Solicitor General in the High Court. Her work included prosecutions, commercial drafting and advice, civil litigation, Native Title litigation, mining law, advice to Government on public law matters, and public law litigation. She was also responsible for coordinating its involvement in the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. For almost six years, Ms Glancy has served as a WA District Court Judge, presiding over numerous criminal and civil cases. She was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court of Western Australia at the end of January 2024.
In October 2020, Ms Glancy was appointed deputy president of the State Administrative Tribunal and later became State Administrative Tribunal Supplementary President.
