Artistic Director / Black Swan State Theatre Company of WA
Kate Champion is an internationally acclaimed director and choreographer with over 30 years of experience across a range of artforms including theatre, dance-theatre, opera, musicals, film, and circus.
Ms Champion was the founding artistic director and chief executive of world-renowned Force Majeure from 2002 to 2015, a performance company based in Sydney dedicated to new Australian work. She had also directed plays for Belvoir Theatre, State Theatre Company of South Australia, Melbourne Theatre Company, and Ensemble Theatre. Ms Champion also has a long relationship with Performing Lines.
She will become the artistic director of Black Swan State Theatre Company in April 2022. Her association with Black Swan dates back to the original co-production of Tim Winton’s Cloudstreet with Belvoir Theatre in 1998.
