Karen Chappel
President / Shire of Morawa
Karen Chappel AM is a member of various boards and committees including the Local Government Advisory Board, Rural Financial Counselling Services WA, Primary Production Services, Desert Blue Connect, and chair of the Morawa District High School board.
She has a Diploma in Local Government and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Ms Chappel has farmed south of Morawa for over 25 years and was a founding member of RFCSWA and NEFF.
In 2023, she was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to local government, and to the community of Morawa.
