Dato' Dr Kai Chah Tan is the executive chair of Asian American Liver Centre, the Asian American Medical Group Inc, Asian American Radiation & Oncology, Asian American Medical Group, Million Health Ventures, Asian American Oncology Management Sdn Bhd and Hippocrates Development Sdn Bhd - all of which are subsidiaries of Asian American Medical Group.
Dato' Dr Tan is the lead surgeon (Hepatobiliary/Transplant) of the Asian American Liver Centre. From 1984 to 1987, he received advanced training in paediatric surgery in Manchester and Southampton in the UK, and further training in paediatric hepatobiliary surgery and liver transplant surgery at King's College Hospital in London. He was Consultant Liver Surgeon at KCH and taught surgery at the University of London from 1988 to 1994.
Dato' Dr Tan pioneered various liver transplant procedures in the UK for both adults and paediatric patients from the first 'split-liver' transplant and the first auxiliary liver graft to five liver-kidney and two heart-liver transplants, and has completed more than 400 liver transplant procedures in the UK.
